We always love a good photographic competition, and the Sony World Photography Awards are one of the best photo competitions out there. Thousands of entries have already been submitted for the 2015 competition, so we’d like to show you some of the best from the Open category.

The Open category invites amateur or enthusiast photographers of any age to submit their most creative photos. The competition (which we’ve written about for 2014 as well) also has Pro and Youth categories. Only the Open category images can be viewed at the moment, however.

Remember – the Open category is open to anyone. If you’ve got an amazing shot, don’t be afraid to submit it to the competition. And if you don’t – get out there and shoot!

Timeless Affection

“Fina (the girl in the picture) is the younger of my two daughters. Fina used to be scared of cat, which was the reason why we decided to adopt two kittens. We wanted Fina to learn how to live with cats, how to hold them, how to care for them and how to treat them as family members to help her overcome her fear. Now we can proudly say she did! The Trace of an Ancient Glacier
